How to Stand on the Shoulders of Giants: Our Journey of Open Sourcing Open Service Mesh: Reading Code, Writing Code, and Asking the World for Help - Delyan Raychev, Microsoft Azure
Feedback form is now closed.
A small team of engineers started Open Service Mesh in December of 2019. In August 2020 the project was released on GitHub as an open sourced project, and in September 2020 it was accepted as a CNCF sandbox.  In this talk I will share the lessons we learned along the way: how to find and read existing code; how to write code knowing that it will be open sourced; how to leverage the immense power of the open source software and navigate the complexities and varieties of OSS licenses.  We will learn about what the team gained by open sourcing, and what changed after the project became public.
