Lessons Learned in Creating a Mechanical Ventilator with Open Hardware and Open Source Software - Luis Herrera Izquierdo, ThoughtWorks

In order to meet the need for mechanical ventilators, currently around the world there are different open hardware initiatives that allows you to build a mechanical ventilator by using an Ambu bag as oxygen generator and different mechanics to control parameters like: volume, pressure, frequency and the airflow. In this talk I will be sharing how we faced different challenges like: create automatic tests, create a pipeline for CI/CD and how we accomplished medical requirements; in a process of building and extending a mechanical ventilator with IoT devices and open source software tools.
